oo im the first to leave a comment!! Mr H, I was just wondering how much detail we have to go into for the specific fabrics and stains etc. For example: many sites tell me that silk is weakened by alkaline solutions, that some silk dyes bleed/fade in water and that water can set stains etc. so in my essay, i would be saying silk is better for dry cleaning. But do I need to explain why silk dyes often bleed, or why water sets stains in silk? cos nowhere tells me that!!! thats just an example, i've got a few other instances with similar things.... hope that all made sense and you can answer!!! Thankyou!!!
Since you are comparing the washing of clothes in detergents with dry cleaning I wouldn't use specific examples that you can't figure the chemical reasons for the contrasts. For example if you can't figure out why water can set stains I would avoid the example. It is best to find examples that using the chemistry you have been learning in term 1 will help explain what your research means at the particle level. You are expected to use your chemical knowledge to give clear explanations to the specific stains and fabrics. Stick to what you can find that is easiest to explain as you don't need to explain every stain or fabric combination.
sir is synthetic detergents just the chemistry term for detergents?? or are they actually different things??
sir when i'm talking about specific stains and fabrics can i use 2 different types of fabric and one type of stain - coz as i read a "soil" stain is where there is dirt/grease that needs to be removed from clothing, so can i use that as my one and only stain or do i need to have multiple stains such as a coffee stain or a some type of food stain?? thanks sir!!
All commercial detergents are synthetic. As for stains and fabrics you do need to be specific. I will let the criteria sheet judge the rest of your questions and responses.
